Mohamed ALZAQ
Our first protégé arrived Wednesday 7 February 2007 accompanied by his father Shaher.
Friday 16 February was the date for the first operation on his left hand; the other operations, on the right hand and face will follow at 2 weekly intervals.
They have acclimatised very well. Communications are not easy as they speak very little English. However with a lot of goodwill and many smiles we manage to understand each other on the small everyday subjects. For important subjects we have the help of interpreters Houria and Lotfy who we would like to thank.
Mohammed and his Father have a cousin who lives in Germany so they profited from the occasion to go and visit him as contact between there and Gaza is decidedly complicated.
16 March 2007
Our first humanitarian mission has come to its end; Mohammed AlZaq, after having undergone 3 operations to his two hands and face, has gone home with his father after a stay of 5 weeks.
We celebrated the event with a Goodbye Evening at the ‘Relais des Associations’, 12 Rue Delille in Nice in the presence of our supporters and collaborators.
We would like to thank the following for their gracious contributions to the success of our operation:
Dr Buffet, surgeon, Dr Quéru, anaesthetist and the Clinique Saint George and the Lions Club at Nice and Cap de Nice who undertook all hospital residency and travel costs.
We all enjoyed a warm and moving evening.
