This is not a utopia!

Reporting the civilians wounded by war should be an International priority, as it is already for infectious diseases.

The term "Injured through War" describes innocent and civilian victims injured through various origins of aggression: wars, bombings, torture, anti-personnel mines, and catastrophes. Those wounded are first treated on site by humanitarian associations or government organisations in different hospitals. Often though, emergency care does not (or cannot) take into account the after effects, the treatment needed to avoid disfiguring consequences. For those who have been injured, even when medically healed, the consequences constitute great physical suffering, being constrained in their functions in some way or a reduced mobility. Mental suffering can be added to this as those injured often have to cope with social exclusion of some kind as well.

In order to help the greatest number of wounded, mutilated or disfigured people possible and to give them hope, a virtual platform will be created to enable victims and volunteers to connect.

The virtual platform: An international network of volunteers, surgeons, anaesthetists, clinics, hospitals and other people and organisations making available their time and skills. Their task will be to create on site, in their country, an organisation providing temporary accommodation and medical care for the patients as well as host families and sponsors.

To bring the plight of the desperation of these innocent victims to the public eye, and to explain that individuals and organisations can "do humanitarian work wherever you are" as well as diminishing suffering from a distance, Placet France and Placet Berlin have organised the First International Day for wounded civilians, mutilated through war or barbaric acts, taking place the 1 August 2011 at Nice, Côte d'Azur.
