"CARMINA BURANA" by Carl ORFF

To help everyone forget their daily life revolving around the war and, for a few days, make it revolve around a shared passion, music…..
the Trialogue Association (little sister of Placet France) invited amateur choirs from Lebanon, Palestine and Israel.
They came from the 25 to the 30 August 2008 to meet at Saint-Etienne-de-Tinée in the Alpes-Maritimes. This musical workshop, unique in its style, assembled the "Chorale Saint Maroun" (Lebanon), the "Olives Branches Choir" (Palestine) and the "Kibbutz Artzi Choir" (Israel). They have worked with the choirs of Gattières and Saint-Etienne-de-Tinée, supported by the Philharmonic Choir of Nice and the Regional PACA Choir to produce the work entitled…

…in its version for choirs, two pianists and six percussionists. And especially, all those involved enjoyed a time of shared friendship: Communal meals, museum visits, chapel visits, walks in the mountains and trips out in Nice...
As each choir had previously rehearsed the work, the rehearsals were completed in a harmonious atmosphere much appreciated by one and all.
Certain French soloists associated themselves with this activity with great enthusiasm and we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to them. Thanks to the pianist duo Frédéric Chauvel and Mark Sole-Leiris, the solo percussionist of the Nice Opera, Philippe Biclot and his young group, the soprano Sabrina Colomb, the baritone Michael Guedj and the artistic director, Jean- Pierre Gregoire, the closing concert of 29 August at the Saint-Etienne-de-Tinée gymnasium enjoyed a huge success, far beyond the most optimistic expectations of the organiser. We were hoping for 500 people, in fact over 950 people were at the event, a hundred or so unlucky late arrivals were not allowed entry due to security restrictions.
We would like to deeply express our acknowledgement and thanks for their generous contribution to the Conseil général des Alpes-Maritimes, the Région PACA, the community of Saint-Etienne-de-Tinée, the community of Valberg-Peone, the transport company SANTA AZUR, the OPERA DE NICE, CREDIT AGRICOLE at Saint-Laurent-du-Var and Saint-Etienne-de-Tinée, to VEOLIA, WATERFRONT PROPERTY, RABUONS holiday homes at Saint-Etienne-de-Tinée and LE COLLET at Aurons as well as the individual and professional hosts and donors.
